I wanna go to Sydney but I have exams

I just got to know that there is an international organisation called INTERPRIDE that brings together Pride foundations, organisations and communities to hold pride celebrations and events at maximum capacity.

Every 2-3 years, they hold a Worldpride. An event consisting of pride parades, festivals, fairs, conferences, etc. to promote visibility of the queer community.

“At the 1997 world conference and general meeting, InterPride members voted to award the inaugural WorldPride to be held in Rome in 2000.“
Yup, they have been at it since decades.

This year, the world will witness the 8^th Worldpride at Sydney, Australia, first one in the Southern Hemisphere. The featured image above is the Sydney Opera House lit up in the Pride Progress Flag to mark the event’s opening.

The event is from 17 Feb to 5 March. So if you’re in Australia or somewhere nearby and can afford to join, do attend it.

One thing that I can guarantee you is that no festival/event/party matches the level of that of the queers. The amount of loving vibes you get there is overwhelming.

Companies dismissing pride as soon as June is over

Long ass title but I have been wanting to talk about this issue for a quite a while.

As we know, every year June is known as the Pride Month to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. Buildings and streets are decorated, roads are painted, flags are everywhere, companies worldwide change their themes to rainbow. However, it’s sad how it all goes back to ordinary on 1 July. All the rainbows are washed away. Companies change their logos back, which is still alright. But many of those which had added infromation tabs on their site to support the community remove those articles. The app’s colorful theme is gone too. Of course it’s the companies choice and they can’t change their app’s content, but I do find it a bit unethical to remove all the supportive designs as soon as pride is over. If you don’t wanna keep the artciles, then don’t post them in the first place. It seems like they were only chasing clout. For the app’s design, there can be an option in the app to have a pride theme. So those who like it can turn it on. Microsoft Teams is an app with this feature. This shows that the label really cares for the community and isn’t only chasing clout. There may be more companies like this but I have only come across Teams until now. If you know any others or if I have missed/ misinterpreted any point then please comment.

To all the closeted people

It kinda sucks when you have to hide yourself away from the world. Your loved ones claim they will always be there but you know the truth, they won’t. No matter what they say, some secrets are meant to be hidden. If by any chance they get to know, they will hate you. They will look at you with those disgust filled eyes wondering where they went wrong in nurturing you. They will question your existence, doubting if you are just confused or misguided. They won’t accept you.

But the day you conquer this fear and come out of the closet, things might be different. Maybe they won’t be disgusted. They will be shocked, but they won’t hate you. Maybe they will open their arms and give you a hug and praise you for being so brave. Maybe they would be happy that you trusted them enough to let them know. Maybe one day.

To all those who are surviving in the closet, please know that if not with the people you are surrounded with now, one day you will find people who will not take your sexuality or gender in account and love you as you. Some day in the far or near future; I don’t know. But one day you won’t have to be so afraid of the truth coming out and you will be openly out of the closet with no fears. But till then, be proud of who you are and don’t ever curse yourself for being you. That would mean you have given up on you. Please don’t do that. I am not aware of anyone’s future, not even mine and life is uncertain as hell but let’s promise ourselves to never give up on us and fight. Happy Pride!

Just to make you smile a little bit

Now that the Pride Month is here, companies are dyeing themselves in rainbow. It’s supportive but if you are in the queer community, you would be well aware of the numorous jokes we make on them. But, today we aren’t gonna discuss those, rather some other interesting memes surrounding the queer community.
